Just for Laughs: Job Hunting Be Like This Sometimes

In light of my rather glum entry about unemployment, I decided to put a lighter note to this.

After speaking to my mentor on the importance of networking, I illustrated some of my experiences and feelings of job hunting*. Due to the unfortunate events of the market as of late, the competition of finding a job increased, and it’s not making it easier.

In this big wide world, connections and networking is crucial. Although I have to admit, I am starting to feel overwhelmed.

As a graduate or someone recently let go otherwise left their jobs for personal reasons, the term unemployment carries an unhealthy stigma. When society is obsessively focused on drawing a relationship of ‘having a job equates to success’ we lose sight of what is important to us. Personally, it took me almost half a year to reassure myself and position of where I want to be.

The key perhaps (easier said than done) is staying optimistic and occupied with hobbies or activities you miss. So, to those out there who may feel burdened by the topic, know that you’re not alone!

Stay positive, stay curious and understand your other goals! Having a job right away may not always be the solution.

Best,
