The effects of AirBnB was certainly palpable. “Connectable” is a scheme which responds to the Government’s ‘Social Housing Renewal Program” implemented recently and expect to cause drastic effects on the social housing demographic. My partner, Preeti Shukla and I, studied the effects of the Sharing Economy and applied its principles to our project, forming an architecture critique towards this trending economy. The project tackles on mass production of houses that can be fitted in residents’ backyards to accommodate the would-be displaced social housing residents. So while idealistically the idea appears to be thoughtful, the intentions are rather dystopic.
